Classic Tiramisu
Ingredients:
6 large egg yolks
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup mascarpone cheese
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
2 packages ladyfinger cookies
Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish
Instructions:
In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until thick and pale.
Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and blend until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using).
Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for about 1-2 seconds, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish.
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone layer.
Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the second layer of ladyfingers.
Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
